The European Alliance Against Depression (EAAD) is an international non-governmental organization, working on the prevention of depression and suicidal behavior with 25 member countries around the globe. The EAAD developed a community-based and multifaceted intervention strategy to prevent depression and suicidal behavior. Thus far, its intervention strategy has been implemented in over 120 regions in 15 countries. During this period, EAAD has been a partner in more than 10 European Union Projects. Its intervention concept, which, among many others, involves the implementation of an online self-management tool for depression (ifightdepression®), has been accepted by the World Health Organization.

Currently, with the financial support of the Puma Sports Company, Turkey has become a member of this alliance and will establish a long-lasting collaboration with the EAAD for prevention of depression and suicidal behavior. Our post-doc researcher Hayriye Gulec, PhD has become the responsible scientist for the implementation of the EAAD concept in Turkey and she attended a press conference in Istanbul last week (4.10.2022) to share the details of the project.
