29th Workshop on Aggression: Aggression, Media, and Digital Technologies

We are honoured and pleased to announce the 29th Workshop on Aggression, which will take place on November 26-28, 2025, at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. This friendly, medium-sized conference is an annual event for all European and international researchers in the field of empirical aggression research, enabling a platform for the presentation and discussion of the newest research findings, theoretical advancements, and practical applications in aggression research. This makes the Workshop on Aggression an ideal place for scientific exchange between researchers with different theoretical and methodological backgrounds concerning aggression.

Brno is a beautiful Moravian city renowned for its rich history, innovative spirit, and thriving coffee culture. We are looking forward to an inspiring atmosphere for researchers at all stages of their careers and discussions concerning aggression in relation to media and digital technologies and beyond.

Brno has a small airport, yet much more convenient is to look at flights to Vienna or Prague, from where there is also easy access.

We look forward to welcoming you at the 29th Workshop on Aggression!

CALL FOR PAPERS

We welcome submissions that cover the breadth of topics within the field of aggression research. Additionally, we particularly invite submissions that are related to the focus theme of this year‘s Workshop on Aggression:

Aggression, media, and digital technologies

In face of the dynamic development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, we are especially interested in submissions on basic and applied research on the intertwined relation of (communication) media, digital technologies and aggressive behavior. Likewise, we welcome contributions that identify how to prevent and diminish cyberaggression. Thus, we encourage submissions that focus on, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • different forms of cyberaggression: cyberbullying, cyberhate, bias-based cyberaggression, cybergrooming, non-consensual sexting, or trolling
  • aggression in the context of gaming and violent video games
  • use of digital technologies for aggressive behavior: aggression by (sexualized) deep fakes or (text- or visual-based) artificial intelligence, or aggression in virtual and augmented reality applications
  • prevention and intervention efforts to reduce the negative impact of aggression via media and digital technologies, including parental mediation, educational programs, online interventions, and bystander reactions

You are cordially invited to submit research concerning this key topic of the workshop. Submissions are possible in different formats: research papers include oral presentations on empirical findings, posters present research results visually to enable communication, symposia include 3-5 single oral presentations with an optional discussant (counted as one of the contributions) around a common topic.

More information about submitting, registration, and the venue will be available here soon.

CYBERSPACE

The 29th Workshop on Aggression is followed by another international conference, Cyberspace, which takes place on November 28-29 in Brno. The conference is co-organised by the Interdisciplinary Research Team on Internet and Society (IRTIS), the organisers of this year's Workshop on Aggression. Cyberspace includes streams on the internet and society, psychology of cyberspace, or AI technologies. Even though it is a different event, you may also be interested in attending. You can find out more about last year's Cyberspace conference here: cyberspace.muni.cz (soon to be updated).

The conference is organised as a part of the project „Research of Excellence on Digital Technologies and Wellbeing CZ.02.01.01/00/22_008/0004583“, which was co-financed by the European Union.
